PN Team • 6 days ago
About 86,000 votes have been cast in Duval County, Florida, as the first week of early voting closed, Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland said, including roughly 60,000 in-person early votes and 26,000 mail ballots. Holland said turnout could surpass the 62% record set in 2018, prompting election staff to work extended hours through the next week.
Local churches and groups, including Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and the Jacksonville NAACP, held voter-turnout events offering nonpartisan information and community support. Early voting runs through Nov. 1, ahead of Election Day on Nov. 3.
