New York's 3rd congressional district

Third-party and unaffiliated candidates appear in all four of Utah's congressional districts this fall, though none qualified for official debates and none poll in double digits. Figures like unaffiliated candidates Robert Moesinger and Steven Burt, Libertarian Taylor Wright, Independent American Carlton Bowen and Constitution Party nominee Cassie Easley say they aren't running to win but to challenge the two-party system, push reforms like ranked-choice voting and multi-member districts, and engage disaffected young voters.

Historically, Utah's third-party candidates have drawn minimal support, averaging roughly 2% since 1914, with Evan McMullin a notable exception. Rising unaffiliated voter registration suggests some appetite for alternatives, but it remains unclear whether that will translate into votes for non-major-party candidates this cycle.

A Knox County, Tennessee commissioner is seeking a public hearing on whether Alex Moody, a member of the Knox County Board of Zoning Appeals, should be removed from his post after he was cited for misdemeanor simple assault. The citation stems from an incident in which Moody allegedly struck a protester outside a private event hosted by the conservative political group Heritage Hubs.

Commissioner Brandon Huckaby, who represents District 3, filed a resolution requesting the hearing under county code, which allows removal of a BZA member "for cause upon written charges and after a public hearing." The proposed hearing would examine evidence such as incident reports, video footage, and witness accounts, and would give Moody an opportunity to respond. Huckaby emphasized the hearing would focus solely on Moody's alleged conduct, not his attendance at the event or his political views, stating that a citation or news report alone is not proof of wrongdoing and that due process must be followed before any formal action is taken.
