A shooting outside an Eden Prairie, Minnesota high school's homecoming football game on October 3 left a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old hospitalized with gunshot wounds, prompting a stadium evacuation and the cancellation of the following night's homecoming dance. Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from a feud involving Somali gang members.

On October 8, police arrested 18-year-old Adam Abdihakeem Adam of St. Louis Park near a Minneapolis intersection, booking him into Hennepin County Jail on probable cause for second-degree assault. He was released on bail within about 48 hours, drawing sharp criticism from Republican officials, including U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer, who blamed the release on a lenient judge and Minnesota's broader criminal justice policies. The case has become a flashpoint in ongoing political debates in Minnesota over bail practices, judicial discretion, and crime policy ahead of the state's November elections.
