Michael Rulli

Voters in Mahoning, Columbiana and Carroll counties head to the polls Nov. 3 to decide the Ohio Senate's 33rd District race. Republican incumbent Al Cutrona, appointed to the seat in 2024 after Michael Rulli departed for the U.S. House, is seeking a full term against Democratic challenger Michael Kripchak, who ran against Rulli for Congress that same year. Both candidates cite property taxes as a top concern: Cutrona touts a proposal cutting rates 50% for residents 65 and older, while Kripchak calls for reworking the tax code to ease the burden on homeowners. Cutrona, an attorney, emphasizes state funding wins for the Mahoning Valley; Kripchak, a teacher and former Air Force researcher, points to education, health, and infrastructure gaps.
