Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa said she isn't intimidated by Elon Musk, accusing Gov. Greg Abbott of working to give Musk access to Boca Chica State Park and vowing to keep public beaches and taxpayer money out of billionaires' hands. Asked whether Musk might relocate his businesses from Texas if she wins, Hinojosa was unconcerned, saying Texans "know our worth" and that Musk is fortunate to be based in the state. She declined to weigh in on whether Musk is a technical genius or simply a skilled hirer of talent, and also criticized Abbott for declining to debate her ahead of the race.

Gina Hinojosa, the Democratic candidate for Texas governor, pushed back against Elon Musk's influence in the state during a recent interview. She accused Gov. Greg Abbott of working to hand Boca Chica State Park over to Musk's SpaceX operations and said she would not let billionaires dictate state policy or access public beaches. Asked whether Musk might relocate his businesses if she were elected, Hinojosa said she wasn't concerned, arguing Texas offers advantages businesses won't walk away from. She also criticized Abbott for declining to debate her. The race adds a new flashpoint over Musk's political and economic footprint in Texas ahead of the gubernatorial contest.
