Son of former Apache County sheriff charged with DUI, child abuse
PN Team • 2 months ago
Bo Hounshell, son of former Apache County Sheriff Brian Hounshell, faces two felony charges — driving under the influence and child abuse — after Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers pulled him over last Friday night with his 8-year-old son in the back seat. According to sources and his father, Hounshell was driving home from the county fair in a county vehicle when he was stopped just before 11 p.m. Brian Hounshell said Bo works as a drone pilot for the county's Public Works Department but could not confirm whether he was on duty at the time.
A defense attorney unconnected to the case said the use of a county vehicle does not affect the DUI charge legally. The case carries added scrutiny because the criminal complaint was stamped by the Clerk of Superior Court, Annell Hounshell — Bo's mother — and because Brian Hounshell, a former sheriff, was previously convicted of felony theft in a corruption case. It remains unclear whether the case will be transferred to another county or whether Bo Hounshell is on administrative leave.
