Ohio minimum wage to rise 3.5% on January 1, 2027
PN Team • 1 month ago
Ohio's minimum wage will increase by 3.5% starting Jan. 1, 2027, the Ohio Department of Commerce announced. Non-tipped employees will see their hourly pay rise from $11 to $11.40, while tipped workers will move from $5.50 to $5.70 per hour.
The state is also raising the business-size threshold that determines which employers must pay the state minimum: companies with annual gross receipts above $420,000 (up from $405,000) will be required to comply. Smaller businesses, along with 14- and 15-year-old workers, remain tied to the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, which can only be changed by Congress and the President. The annual adjustment is mandated by state law, which requires Ohio's minimum wage to track inflation each year.
