BC Conservatives Win Majority, Doerkson Set to Become Premier
PN Team • 5 days ago
The BC Conservatives won a majority government in British Columbia's Oct. 24 provincial election, positioning interim leader Lorne Doerkson to become premier-designate. Former party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay, who resigned in September amid a caucus revolt that saw 14 MLAs leave or get ousted, publicly congratulated Doerkson on the win. Doerkson took over as interim leader hours after Findlay's resignation, and the party's board agreed to let him stay on as leader if he won the election. Findlay's planned byelection run was scrapped after Premier David Eby called the snap election, dissolving the legislature.
