Missouri Voters Decide Amendment 3 on Abortion and Gender-Affirming Care
PN Team • 2 days ago
Missouri voters are deciding Amendment 3, a ballot measure that would repeal the abortion-rights protections added to the state constitution in 2024. If approved, abortion would generally be prohibited, with exceptions for rape, incest and medical emergencies limited to the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. The amendment also would enshrine restrictions on gender-affirming care for minors already found in state law. Gov. Mike Kehoe campaigned for a "yes" vote, citing broad support from Christian denominations, despite having opposed the 2024 abortion-rights amendment. Planned Parenthood and other reproductive rights advocates oppose the measure, arguing its main practical effect would be eliminating abortion access rather than adding new protections for minors.
