Grandfather in Ohio child abuse case undergoes medical procedure
PN Team • 2 months ago
Gary Siders Sr., 73, the grandfather charged in the Vinton County, Ohio, case involving 16 rescued children, underwent an undisclosed medical procedure Friday, according to court records. His GPS monitoring device had to be removed for the procedure. Siders is the only one of four charged family members released from jail, having been freed in July to receive medical care.
The case began June 30, when law enforcement raided the Siders home in Hamden, a rural village about 80 miles south of Columbus, while investigating an unrelated matter, and discovered 16 children ranging from ages 1 to 18. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson described the conditions as "almost beyond comprehension." Several children required hospitalization and all are now in foster care. Siders, his wife Christina, son Gary Jr. and daughter-in-law Elizabeth face child endangerment charges; Gary Jr. and Elizabeth also face sexual abuse charges alongside two other men. Siders Sr.'s next court date is set for Sept. 9.
